Submission Guide

Sliver of Stone is now accepting submissions for its August 1st, 2010 issue.
DEADLINE: June 30, 2010.

We require exclusive electronic rights for six months, the length of each current issue. We require nonexclusive electronic rights after the six month period is over to maintain complete issues in our archives. Contributors are paid in gratitude and admiration.

Genres
We’re interested in the following:
- Fiction, Creative Nonfiction, Essays (5,000 words or less).
- Poetry, any form or genre (No more than 5 poems)
- Visual art
Multi-authored works are not eligible.
No previously published works.
Simultaneous submissions are acceptable but we must be notified immediately should your work be accepted elsewhere for publication.

Language

Sliver of Stone accepts work in English.
If an author has originally written the piece in a different language and provides an English translation, Sliver of Stone will publish the piece and translation side by side. Translations of unpublished work only, in French, Spanish, and Haitian Creole. (For other languages, kindly inquire first.)

To submit your literary work
Email attached documents (.doc) to

Each story/poem/essay should be included in a different word document. Give the word document the name of the actual story/poem/essay. Your name shouldn't appear anywhere on the pages.
Include a cover letter in the body of the email containing major title and subtitles, author's name, full address, phone and email, along with a short biography.


To submit your artwork
If you wish to submit artwork /photography, please send each photo separately with the title included in your email. We accept images attached as .jpg/.tif with a minimum 300 dpi resolution.

We consider each submission with care and integrity. Although it may take up to 2-3 months for us to reach an editorial decision, we’ll do our best to respond promptly to submissions and to general correspondence. After 3 months, please feel free to query.
